An exploration in color and texture.
I began my career as a photographer but became a painter so the I could del with my internal world, that of my psyche and emotions. I chose not to search the external for inspiration, but instead to allow the creative process to be inner directed. My metaphor for this internal world is expressed in the painting process. With my work, I completely immures myself in the painterly processionals of self-discovery between the painting and the painter. Emotional intensity is made evident through pure, lush color with little structural definition. My work records both my physical and spiritual energy, as well as a more expansive and universal energy. — Ann Starkey
